The Egyptian Football Federation sent a formal complaint to FIFA on July 8. The filing follows Argentina’s 2-1 quarter-final win over Egypt on July 7. The Egyptian FA says the referees made favoritist calls that impacted the result. It demands a re-evaluation of the officiating and sanctions for the officials involved.
Belgium’s federation also lodged a complaint with FIFA. The protest involves the allocation of a training pitch before a possible knockout match. Belgium claims the pitch assignment created a disadvantage. Both federations are waiting for FIFA’s response.
