Toronto Blue Jays relief pitcher Braydon Fisher was placed on bereavement leave Wednesday, granting him time to grieve after his dad, Don Fisher, went down without warning while traveling to support his child.

The unfortunately death occurred during the competitive Jays' series against the Nationals.

The club quickly announced the leave immediately.

Fisher issued a short statement saying his dad was an “amazing” man and that he is determined on his family.

He appreciated fans for support and said he will return to the roster once he feels able.
