Between 266,000 and 450,000 high school students took to the streets across France on Tuesday in what organisers called "act 3" of an continuing wave of protests. Classes were cancelled at several campuses as clashes broke out, with police making 488 arrests.
President Emmanuel Macron called an emergency meeting with ministers at the Elysee Palace in response to the unrest. Demonstrators from Saint-Denis to Paris said they were demanding real change, with many expressing frustration at current conditions.
