Essendon defender Jordan Ridley has been signed by Geelong, with the deal confirmed on 7 October 2026. The trade sends utility Jack Bowes to Essendon along with four draft picks.

Ridley had been heavily linked to the Cats after Essendon placed a high trade value on the defender. Essendon were unwilling to let him go cheaply throughout the trade period.

The agreed trade gives Geelong an seasoned backline option while Essendon receives Bowes and additional selections. Bowes is a multi-position player who bolsters the Essendon list heading into the pre-season period.
