Meta has consented to pay up to 18 billion US dollars to finalize lawsuits with US states concerning compulsive platform use and harms to children.
The major deal addresses legal claims from California and other states related to teen addiction on platforms owned by the company.
Under the terms of the settlement, Meta also committed to major operational adjustments on Facebook and Instagram. The agreement ends pending litigation in the United States centered on platform safety issues to children and teens.
