A violent thunderstorm hit Edmonton on Saturday evening, overwhelming residents across the region.
Rain was unrelenting it brought down power lines and snapped trees.
Several parts of the city were left without electricity as the storm raged through.
Water from the rain filled buildings like the West Edmonton Mall and the Royal Alberta Museum beyond their doors and bathed surrounding streets.
Big roads turned into rivers, submerging 111 Avenue and Jasper Avenue, and compelling traffic to halt.
Two outdoor festivals got cancelled because of the flooding as water rose and left organisers to pack up equipment.
Clean-up teams are working now around the clock while residents hope for power to return.
City bosses called it the worst storm this season so far to date, promising prompt action to repair damage.
