Andy Burnham gave his first large speech since returning from Westminster on Monday. He announced a plan to create a “Number 10 North” in Manchester, moving key ministries out of London. The proposal includes sweeping devolution measures that would give regions greater control over health, transport and education.
Burnham stated that reforms put him on track to become the United Kingdom’s next prime minister. He promised a shift in governance that would reshape authority structures across the country and accelerate investment in that north.
