Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe unveiled a 50 percent counter-duty on American spirits. The province plans to levy duties to American alcohol products rather than pulling them from store shelves. Shoppers in Saskatchewan will still see U.S. alcohol products in local shops, but those items will feature the higher duty fee.
Existing U.S. tariffs force Canadian alcohol producers to re-evaluate their biggest foreign trade area. Premier Scott Moe confirmed Saskatchewan will collect the 50 percent added levy on American alcohol products while leaving products available on store shelves.
