Tadej Pogačar claimed the victory in Stage 19 on July 24. The Slovenian rider launched an attack on Alpe d'Huez and crossed the line far in front. Only Richard Carapaz managed to get close. Pogačar's group carried teammates who felt ill earlier in the stage but he kept strong. His lead grew bigger on the last climbs. Two days prior, Carapaz grabbed Stage 18 just seconds back.
