Dame Judi Dench has publicly criticized Petco for alleged poor treatment of birds. The actor, known for her admiration for parrots, accused the retailer of sourcing birds from breeders who kept them in tight and unclean spaces. Dench called for an end to the sale of birds at Petco, citing PETA's exposure of animal cruelty in breeding facilities. The criticism comes as Dench has been vocal about her fondness for parrots and the humane treatment of animals.
