Equinor has cautioned that the United Kingdom risks becoming "uninvestable" if North Sea projects Jackdaw and Rosebank are blocked. The Norwegian energy company's chief executive questioned whether future investment in the UK could continue if drilling approvals are denied, catching the eye of the BBC, The Times, and the Financial Times.
The warning adds heat to UK energy policy at a time when the government is deciding on the future of North Sea development. Blocking the two projects, Equinor made clear, would create real uncertainty about the country's openness to large-scale energy investment.
Separately, Equinor issued a quarterly update on 7 October 2026 saying its trading profit will beat its own forecast for the third quarter. Reuters broke the news ahead of the company's planned earnings release.
