Heat across countries north of the Alps is now hitting forty in a plethora of cities. A warning was first issued in the Netherlands when temps rose above seven-and-thirty, and officials have kept it in place through Saturday. In the capital people are hanging curtains outside to keep the blazing sun out. The oppressive weather is pushing homes built for colder months.
Experts say more than 1300 extra deaths have been linked to the heat across the region. Overnight temperatures stay high, experts say. They urge residents to drink lots of water, stay out of the sun at hottest times and find shade.
